Fed up with Freestyle

Hello everyone.I am another one with type 1 diabetes. Since the SS finances the sensors I have been using the Freestyle. Now I use the Freestyle 2 plus, reading the readings with the mobile app.

The fact is that for about a year now, sensor failures have become more and more frequent. It is now common that, every time I change it, one or two fail and do not start, with continuous messages to wait 10 minutes until the message to replace the sensor comes out.

It has also happened to me that, after two or three days of use, the message to replace it appears.

I'm starting to get fed up with Freestyle. It's true that they replace it because of its problems, but I don't trust anything anymore. The bad thing is that, if I'm not mistaken, the other financed model only lasts 10 days.

Are Freestyle sensors getting worse every time?Does it happen to anyone else?

Hello, AVSB.In my case I have also seen that the Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sometimes causes quite a few problems. For example, I have to change it relatively frequently for my grandmother and sometimes the readings take longer than expected; Many times the message "wait 10 minutes" appears and it ends up taking much longer.

Out of curiosity, do you put it in the recommended area on the back of your arm?I leave you an image with the correct position because sometimes placement can influence.

I tell you my experiences and opinions:

Yes, Libre scores badly. When Libre 1 came out it was perfect, but over the years and the increase in production, things got much worse. In 2022 I was switched to Medtronic, the Guardian 4 (the other funded model that is part of a system with a pump in closed loop control).Since I had plenty of FREE ones, for a while I wore them simultaneously. When they disagreed, I did a capillary to check and the result was very clear: the Libres indicated systematically low and the G4 measured well.

As for crashes: The Guardian 4 (and the modern version, the Simplera) nominally lasts 7 days, but crashes significantly more than the Libres. In my experience, the LIbre 2 failed by about 25% in the number of sensors (1 in 4) and less than 5% in coverage time (14 days). The Medtronic ones have failed me more than 50% both in number and time.In return, I have never seen them indicate anything other than capillary.

I must be a rare bird, because they are turning out well for me, with fairly accurate readings, I suppose it's a matter of, but I can't complain

The same thing has been happening to me for a long time.Although I continue using it, I don't trust it so I have gone back to doing two or three capillaries a day (Abbot sends me 50 strips with 8 sensors so I have been forced to rescue my old Con tour sensor and buy strips at the price of €30 for a bottle of 50).With an average for the last 90 days of 118, the last analysis showed me 7.7 glucose.Constant low glucose alarms that have led me to deactivate it.The differences are enormous. I set off the alarm when I reach 60, do a hair transplant and are at 140/160.It is true that I have no problems with easy replacement from the website and fast reception. The telephone service staff is very friendly. But the worst thing is the feeling of walking on a wire.

Bueno. Veremos a ver...

También me iban fatal y pedí el cambio a Dexcom hace un mes, pero al menos en mi comunidad, parece que va lento... A ver si tenemos suerte
