Type 1 diabetes preventive treatment

Hello,

I was recently told about a drug called Teizeild (Teplizumab) that acts by inhibiting the immune system to delay the onset of type 1 diabetes in people over 8 years of age.

They have proposed to me to enter a clinical trial to see if my children have antibodies against the pancreas, and if they do, to monitor them intensively so that, only if at some point a minimal glycemic dysregulation appears, apply the treatment and delay the onset of diabetes by an average of 4 years.

This drug is already approved in the US, the United Kingdom, Canada and China.

Does anyone have experience with this trial or this drug?

I would have loved a drug like this before my debut, so if I can help my children it would be wonderful.Although it is much better that they do not need the drug!

In theory, if you are diabetic, your children have only an 8% chance of having it.It's quite little I think.

If both parents have it, then they have 30%, so it might be fine.

En 1922 descubrieron la insulina, en 1930 la insulina lenta. ¿Que c*** han hecho desde entonces?

Thanks for your response.

I am aware that it is unlikely that they are diabetic, in fact if the screening comes back negative I will be happier than if they are given the drug.

The thing is that if we can detect people at risk and give them preventive treatment, I think this can be one of the biggest changes in the management of diabetes. We already have a thousand insulins and technology for when there is no turning back, this is for when there is still something to do...

Although like everything new, you have to take it with great caution and see how the issue progresses.
